Our office is open Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the exceptions of holidays.
Our office records documents from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
and issues marriage licenses from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.


Pursuant to N.C.G.s. 161-8, the local Board of County Commissioners is authorized to establish the operating schedule for the Register of Deeds office. This includes office hours, days of operation, and recording times for documents filed within the office.

Effective July 1st, the Register of Deeds office will implement updates to its internal operational procedures. The revised schedule is as follows

Vault Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Recording/E-Recording: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Effective August 3 Magistrates will be full time at the jail. If you are wanting to have the magistrate to officiate the ceremony you will need to be here on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 10:30 and 12:00 with $50.00 exchange.

Marriages License Issuance: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Vital Records Request: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Please note that no financial transactions will be processed after 4:30 PM. However, the office will remain open until 5:00 PM to assist with research and general inquiries.
